It’s no secret that we one day plan to offer VPS, dedicated and other hosting services along with the standard shared hosting we’re going to launch with. I figured I would start early and send out a couple of emails to datacenters in New York & Toronto.
Without naming names, the New York company took over 72 hours to respond back to my initial email. The Toronto provide was about 34 hours if I’m not mistaken.
Both of those response times are HORRIFIC. I understand that some companies have sales staff working 9-5 but I also realize this is the Internet. Clients are going to have questions 24/7… why not just staff a single person to answer those messages?
Anyways, I guess my point is that hosting companies should really consider the first impression a slow response gives. How could I possibly return to those websites and feel confident ordering a service!?!?!?

I just sent an email off at 11:58pm EST to a provider in Dallas. 12:29am EST I received a response back. 31 MINUTES! Now that’s more like it. Good work my anonymous Dallas provider.
